Punta Skala

Located near Cavtat in southern Dalmatia, this beach is located right next to the Fortica Fortress which overlooks the sea from atop its hilltop perch. It's less than 10 minutes by car from Dubrovnik centre to this beach, making it an easily accessible spot, ideal if you just want a quick sunbathe and swim.

Banje Beach

Banje Beach is a pebble beach with crystal clear water. It's a very family-friendly beach, so you'll find lots of kids playing in the water. This is also a popular spot for watersports like windsurfing and kitesurfing. You can enjoy some delicious seafood at one of the nearby restaurants or grab some snacks from a beach bar.

Stikovica Beach

Stikovica is a hidden gem on Dubrovnik's coastline. This private beach is located in Stikovica village and can only be reached by car or boat. The only way to get there is by crossing an old stone bridge that was built back in the 17th century and connects two villages, but the journey is worth it - when you arrive you are rewarded with beautiful white sand beaches lapped by refreshing crystal blue waters.

Zaton Beach

Located just north of Dubrovnik, this small cove is divided into two sections: one for families with children and one for adults only.

Dubrovnik city centre

If you're planning to visit Dubrovnik, then it's worth exploring the city centre. The old town of Dubrovnik is one of Croatia's most popular tourist attractions and rightly so.

Explore the City walls encircling Dubrovnik Old Town

The Walls of Dubrovnik are a UNESCO World Heritage Site that encircles the entirety of Dubrovnik’s Old Town and are an absolute must-see. They’re one of the best-preserved medieval fortifications in Europe. Even better, they're free to walk around and explore.

Built entirely from limestone, they stretch for over 1.2 kilometres and rise up to 10 metres high. The walls were built in the 13th century by King Charles I of Anjou, who also built walls around his own palace in France (The Louvre). The walls were further fortified during the Ottoman rule in 1450.

They have four bastions on each corner and three gates: St John (used today), Ploče Gate on the southwest side, and Pile Gate on the northwest side. The top level has several lookout points with great views over Old Town Dubrovnik, including one inside Fort Lovrijenac itself.

Sponza Palace

The Sponza Palace is a Renaissance palace in Dubrovnik. Located on the western side of the city walls, near Pile Gate, it was built in the 15th century by the Venetian Republic.

The palace was built as an office for tax collection and treasury by an Italian architect Michele Sanmicheli, who also designed some other buildings in Dubrovnik including Rector's Palace and Church of St Ignatius.

Walk up Mount Srd

If you're looking for a great cardio workout and breathtaking views of Dubrovnik's Old Town, walk up Mount Srd. The path is steep in some parts, but the climb is worth it. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the top of Mount Srd, the highest point in Dubrovnik.

If you want to make this hike even more challenging and exciting, try doing it at night when there are fewer people on the trail (but don't worry, there is no danger of getting lost).

Shop at Dubrovnik market

The Dubrovnik Market is a great place to buy food, souvenirs, and other items. It's open every day except Mondays from 7am until 2pm.

You can buy fresh bread from old ladies at their counters, as well as produce from local farmers from all over Croatia. If you're looking for something more gourmet, check out the array of fish stalls for fresh seafood, or cheese stalls for handmade cheese and meat products that are unlike anything else you've ever tasted.

There are so many beautiful islands in Croatia, but the best way to see them is from the water. Hop on a boat tour from the harbour and you'll experience some of the most breathtaking views as you travel along this wonderland of islands.
